Mobile App UX / UI Design & Prototype

What is the main goal for this project? We are an early-stage dating app startup that would like support with designing the next stage of our mobile app (user feed, match experience, post-match flow, and messaging) that will launch in late 2025 as part of our MVP release. Our mission is to rebuild the dating experience by creating more intentional, authentic connections through a dual-profile concept ("Hype" and "Unhinged") that allows people to show both their polished and unfiltered sides. We are hoping to collaborate with a group of talented students who can complete the end-to-end design process with the ultimate goal of building a seamless, differentiated, and engaging user experience that sets Unlatched apart from existing dating apps and lays the foundation for rapid user growth. Project scope: Already completed: onboarding flow and dual-profile creation. Student focus: design begins after setup, specifically on feed, match experience, post-match reveal, and messaging.

AI Integration Strategy for Unlatched

Unlatched, a dual-profile dating app that emphasizes emotional intelligence (EQ), seeks to enhance its platform by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in a manner that is both ethical and innovative. The goal of this project is to design a strategy that aligns with Unlatched's unique value proposition while improving user experience and maintaining technological feasibility. Main Project Goals Assess Business Needs – Analyze Unlatched’s product vision and growth strategy to identify high-impact opportunities for AI integration. Design AI Adoption Strategies – Develop actionable recommendations that balance innovation with feasibility across customer engagement, marketing personalization, process automation, data analytics, and user safety. Prototype & Demonstrate Use Cases – Create conceptual prototypes or mockups for AI features like Check Yourself , Read the Room , Decompress , and User Authentication to show how they would function in the app. Evaluate Risks & Ethics – Provide an impact assessment on data privacy, inclusivity, and bias to ensure responsible AI adoption. Deliver Final Roadmap – Present a phased AI integration plan that Unlatched can use to guide future product development and investor discussions.

The project aims to explore and design AI-powered features that enhance emotional intelligence, user safety, and authentic engagement within the Unlatched dual-profile dating app. Unlatched is committed to creating a dating experience where emotional intelligence (EQ) is prioritized, ensuring users feel safe and genuinely connected. The challenge is to identify innovative and feasible AI strategies that align with Unlatched's mission: "Where EQ Matters." Learners will analyze current AI technologies and propose enhancements that can be seamlessly integrated into the app. The project will focus on understanding user interactions and developing AI solutions that promote meaningful connections while safeguarding user privacy and security. This initiative provides an opportunity for learners to apply their knowledge of AI, user experience design, and data analysis in a real-world context.

Project Summary: Unlatched is building a dating app that disrupts the typical swipe culture by introducing a dual-profile system : Hype Profile – the confident, curated side Unhinged Profile – the raw, honest, and unfiltered side The app invites users to reveal more nuanced, human dimensions of themselves, creating deeper and more authentic connections. Project Goal: To further develop and refine a high-fidelity interactive prototype that embodies the dual-profile user experience, enhances engagement, and visually aligns with Unlatched’s modern, emotionally intelligent brand.
