Paralegal and Legal Research Assistance

PLA 311

Jan 5, 2026 - Mar 28, 2026

National University’s Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies program prepares learners to become adept legal assistants with comprehensive training in legal research, document preparation, and case management. This Experience allows students to apply their acquired knowledge in a real-world setting across a wide variety of legal and compliance environments—law firms, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, corporate legal departments, and more. Students bring skills in legal terminology, case law, ethical considerations, and professional writing, and they seek to enhance these through hands-on projects. Employers are asked to provide meaningful assignments, constructive feedback, and participate in the final presentation to discuss outcomes of the project. Where projects have legal implications, supervision from a licensed attorney or qualified supervisor is required. IMPORTANT: National University offers monthly term starts, allowing students to commence their projects approximately every 4 weeks. Most students will complete their required hours in 8-12 weeks. The university welcomes projects on a rolling basis. Once your project is accepted, we will match you with a student as soon as the next cohort becomes available.

Do you have a complicated business problem or question that doesn't have an easy answer? Work with Capstone students from our Master of Science in Engineering Management program to get solution designs that can help move your company forward. Our students come to the program with an engineering background and choose to specialize in systems engineering or project management. This is an opportunity for our students to showcase and apply their academic knowledge in the business environment. Client companies will be presented with teams’ recommendations that will align the organizational systems with their core mission. These recommendations will address; the needs for enhancements to the systemic operating processes, measurable improvements to efficiency and effectiveness of core business systems, elimination or minimization of potential projects failures (delays, quality, scope, budget), use of technology-based solution where and when applicable.
