Learner goals and capabilities

Students will work on projects for the participating companies, similar to an internship. In order to be placed with a particular company, students will apply (write a French-style job application, conduct job interviews) and undergo a “trainee program” to learn office and customer communication. In the second half of the semester, students will work in small groups on projects for the companies. At the end of the semester, the projects will be presented in a written and oral format. This could be a marketing campaign, internal communication, product placement, French translation or anything else related to the company's needs.

Project Examples

Requirements

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Project activities that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • Marketing strategy related to some aspects of the company or a specific product
  • Product: Translation of product information sheets or manuals
  • Sustainability goals for products
  • Public Relations: Showcasing a specific product or core value
  • Human Resources: Developing a bilingual (French/English) welcome package for new employees
