Note: This project template serves as a guiding framework to help generate ideas when creating a project for the Climate Resilience program. It is flexible and can be adapted to fit your organization’s specific needs.


[Your organization] supports communities through education and outreach, and now seeks to build or update a climate-focused curriculum. This may address topics such as climate justice, water sustainability, carbon management, disaster readiness, or clean energy. Learners will help design educational materials tailored for nonprofit programming.



What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Week 1: Needs Assessment

  • Research organizations missions, goals and desired outcomes for outreach material. 
  • Review current content and identify community gaps.
  • Identify outreach priorities within the organization.


Week 2: Presentation techniques/styles

  • Identify successful outreach strategies
  • Identify best outreach materials used within those strategies
  • Create outcomes-based learning goals for outreach materials.


Week 3: Content Development

  • Draft interactive lesson plans, activities, and/or facilitator guides.
  • Map outreach materials back to science standards and/or curriculum requirements
  • Include local case studies, interactive tools, or culturally relevant examples.


Week 4: Finalization & Delivery Plan

  • Compile all materials into a usable outreach package.
  • Suggest rollout strategies for workshops, youth programs, or community events.


The employer will provide:

  • Feedback on Draft Lessons
  • Optional Collaboration with Local Educators or Community Leaders
